About Me
Sound is half the experience. From the day I picked up my first video game (Super Mario Bros. 2 for the GameBoy Advance!), I've been passionate about the sonic experience of games and their ability to create atmosphere and emotion. So much so that I did a deep-dive into the best practices of audio horror in video games as my master's thesis at SMU.

I've been immersed in music all of my life, from listening to Mozart as a baby (my parents founded The Baby Einstein Company) to playing violin as a toddler, flute as a young child and piano as a teenager. I've performed percussion in a steel drum band at my alma mater, University of Denver, written my own concert band arrangements of my most beloved Zelda soundtracks, and experienced world music throughout my travels, which have taken me to all 7 continents (including Antarctica!)
Though my first love is sound design, I'm an expert technical and skilled level designer too. As an undergrad in Emergent Digital Practices, I created my own scripting architecture for a capstone project using a non-traditional controller (the LeapMotion device) and built a full game experience completely from scratch in the Unity development engine. (Click here for more details!) Throughout my time at SMU Guildhall and my growing professional career, I've also built stand-alone projects primarily in Unreal Engine 4 and Unity, with additional personal school projects in Fallout 4 Creation Kit and Half-Life 2 and Left 4 Dead Hammer (Source).

Be it scuba diving in the Dominican Republic, kayaking in Alaska, or performing music with a local ensemble in Senegal, there are few things I'm not willing to try at least once.
I love designing and making costumes for renaissance faires and concerts!
I speak (mostly) fluent Japanese, and studied in Kyoto for 6 months.
Former ID Tech instructor: "Manga"!
